Here’s a little item which might ruin your day. Ted Postol is a nuclear weapons expert and an all-around smart guy. Below is an abridged interview with him re the conflict in Ukraine and the threat of nuclear war.

I’m constantly struggling with the issue of how to account for Washington foreign policy blatant misfeasance, for example with Ukraine. Is it by deliberate design or incompetence? Or something else? 

I’ve come down mostly in favor of deliberate design. Machinations by intelligent but rotten operatives. Postol makes the case for ignorance. Certainly it is a factor. No doubt it is a witches brew of both.
