I’m nominating the irritating termagant, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-Tel Aviv), as the second canary in the coal mine, following Brian Hook who was the first canary. She’s going to the UN, where she will embarrass America just like Biden’s ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield has done, vetoing all UN resolutions which called for a cease-fire in Gaza.
In the meantime, a number of other warmongering characters known as “hawks” have been put forth by Trump to run his foreign policy. See Caitlin Johnstone’s informative entry of yesterday. All are confrontationists and busybodies and, of course, Israel-firsters. With über-Zionist Stefanik at the UN, Israel will have two representatives at the table running interference and spouting Israeli propaganda.
The Neocons are alive and well. They have been having a field day since the end of the Cold War in 1990. No one is prepared to drive a silver stake through their hearts. Trump 2.0 is looking more like the original, at least in foreign affairs. What a shame. But what can you expect?
