Very informative discussion, especially from Professor Mearsheimer. Although understandable, I am saddened to hear Kremlin advisor Sergey Karaganov's totally negative view on Europe. He wants a divorce between Russia and Europe, meaning the European “elites”. The Ukraine conflict has forced Russia to turn East.

My conclusion is that European elites were led astray, brainwashed and badgered, by Washington, by neocon Washington, in the aftermath of the Cold War. European leaders chose not to stand up to it. Karaganov now calls European elites “insane” and Europe “a junkyard”. China is the obvious solution.

The two men I blame most for this are Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz. In the aftermath of the Cold War, it could have been a golden age for Russia and Europe. But Washington stepped in and ruined it. No peace dividend. Now we are back to a new Cold War. Totally unnecessary. I want to go back to 1990...
